Recently, Peters & May transported the record breaking Owen Clarke Design Open 50, Pegasus of Northumberland, (previously known as Truth) from California to the UK. The first leg of her trip saw the yacht transported across the USA to the East Coast, where she was then loaded onto a vessel bound for the UK.
Pegasus of Northumberland, under her previous guises Pegasus and Artforms, holds a clutch of records in both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans (including the outright 24 hour record for a 50’ yacht). She was last in the UK prior to being raced to victory in the 2006 Route du Rhum by American yachtsman Kip Stone. Her new owner, well-known British short-handed yachtsman Ross Hobson, intends to campaign her in the 2018 event. In the build-up, she is to compete in two races double-handed, the Transat Jacques Vabres and the 2016 Round Ireland Race, as well as a host of other races on the European circuit.
The Peters & May Team coordinated with San Francisco based Racing Yacht Management to prepare the boat, its cradle, keels and masts for the long journey ahead.
Craig Stanbury commented: “It was a pleasure to work with such a passionate and dedicated group of professionals. We’re looking forward to seeing Pegasus of Northumberland back on the European competition circuit in the very near future!”
