Record Breaking Shipment for Peters & May Group

June 2017 saw Peters & May Group break another record with the largest number of yachts shipped on a single vessel.

This Caribbean season saw 7 Peters & May operated Sailings departing from Antigua, St Thomas and Fort Lauderdale with the most recent one carrying a record number of 45 yachts transported with masts up.

With its considered approach to bespoke logistics and continued development of long-term partnerships to support the industry and its client’s, Peters & May Group is thrilled to have achieved this milestone in the company’s 44 year history and it was a great way to round off another successful Caribbean season.

The HHL New York was fixed for loading post Antigua Sailing Week and 10 days later was steaming through the Solent and up Southampton water for her first port call post transatlantic crossing.

With the 45 yachts carefully loaded above and below decks, filling all available spaces, she made quite a spectacle coming up the Solent with some excitement ensuing a visit from the BBC earlier in the week.

As soon as she berthed alongside the Peters & May Loadmasters set to work on discharging the first set of yachts to reunite them with their owners. Once all Southampton operations were completed she continued on to Bremerhaven where she was met again by the Peters & May Loadmasters to discharge all of the remaining yachts.

Simon Judson, Global Operations Director, Peters & May Group ” It’s fantastic to see this level of support from customers, with a number of the yachts being regular clients. It shows how we have developed the business over the last few years and continue to grow consistently.”

He continued – “We are always striving to improve and better our service so it’s a huge compliment to the P&M team and our team of loadmasters on the ground who bring it all together. With our support of Antigua Sailing Week and the ARC we have had 7 sailings out of the Caribbean this season, I’m very proud of the team and with the level of demand for our service at an all-time high, we are already taking bookings for our 2018 sailings!’

Peters & May Group are proud to be associated with these two great organisations and look forward to helping many returning and new clients in the future.

One of Peters & May’s regular clients is Ross Applebey, multiple ARC participant and this year’s winner of the Peters & May Round Antigua Race on his Oyster Lightwave 48

Ross Applbey, Owner of Oyster Lightwave 48 ‘Scarlet Oyster’ commented “After a busy sailing season in the Caribbean, it is much more relaxing to know we can trust Peters & May to ship her back; knowing she will get back safely and swiftly with no wear and tear.  I have used them several times in the past, they have more experience in their field of expertise than anyone else I have looked into shipping ‘Scarlet Oyster’ with.

He continued “Without exception I have found all P&M representatives to be very friendly and knowledgeable, their team of loadmasters are all extremely capable and have loaded yachts of all shapes and sizes, so any specific loading requirements can be met without a drama.  The loading process is explained clearly, and makes the process as stress free as possible, usually accompanied by some good humour!
