At Peters & May, we are always looking for smart, responsible ways to operate more efficiently. As part of our ongoing environmental efforts and partnership with Planet Mark, we’ve recently installed 186 solar panels on the roof of our UK warehouse.
This investment supports our goal of improving operational efficiency and reducing reliance on external energy sources. The panels now generate clean electricity for the building, and any surplus energy is exported back to the national grid—helping offset costs and making better use of the resources available to us.
We’ve also introduced six electric vehicle chargers—four 7kW and two 22kW units—available for use by staff, partners, and visitors. These chargers are powered directly by the solar installation, reducing dependency on the grid and supporting those who are transitioning to electric vehicles.
While we recognise that the shipping and logistics sector inherently involves environmental challenges, especially in areas like ocean freight and road transport, we remain committed to identifying opportunities for meaningful change. Initiatives like this reflect our intention to lead by example within our facilities and operations, and to take accountability where we can.
Our Planet Mark certification reflects these values and our wider ambition to operate with integrity, transparency and forward-thinking practices. We will continue to assess and evolve our sustainability strategy in line with realistic, measurable actions.
This solar investment marks one step in a broader journey—but it’s a step we’re proud to take.
