As a result of many successful shipments for the University of Southampton the Peters & May Forwarding team visited Southampton University’s procurement team to discuss how their expertise and bespoke logistics capabilities could be utilised to support the University’s “Goods in Goods out” department further.
Following talks and agreement by both sides, the Peters & May Group is very pleased to have been awarded preferred shipper status with the University network.
Initially, shipments started out as standard packages for the main University office but due to the personal service received, shipments have since extended throughout a variety of departments, in particular the Biological Sciences and cover both import and export of goods that range in category. From hazardous commodities to dangerous pathogens, brain samples and even bat faeces, the diversity of cargo handled has become a regular thing and a very welcome challenge for our expert forwarding team.
By providing a door to door custom solution for each shipment the University needs, Peters & May provides a level of support that is second to none across all modes of transport (air, sea and road) and can vary to include the use of dry ice, additional packing to ADR/IATA standard along with customs advice & documentation.
Jenny Elstone, Peters & May Forwarding Sales Manager said “It is very rewarding to partner with an organisation whose work really makes a difference both on a scientific and educational level worldwide. Being privileged enough to have a team of expert multimodal operators, who specialise in dangerous goods and temperature controlled cargo handling, allows us to become a part of scientific analysis on an international scale. We look forward to further developing our relationship with the university network and handling more unusual and exciting challenges together”
