What a year at the 52 SUPER SERIES! As the proud official logistics partner to the event, Peters & May look back on the series. Managing the shipment of the TP52 fleet between event locations, it was the job of Peters & May’s expert Loadmasters to deliver racing yachts in a safe and timely manner; something our racing logistics teams are passionate about.
Starting in Palma, 9 TP52 yachts, 9 ribs and 13 containers for the event were loaded aboard our nominated vessel. First stop for the fleet - Sibenik Sailing Week; where the calm race circuit created unique challenges, seeing Quantum take the starting lead. A short sail from Sibenik, the fleet moved on to the Zadar Royal Cup which saw Luna Rossa place first.
Ready for the next leg of their journey; the TP52 fleet were loaded by our Loadmasters in Zadar, destined for Lisbon ahead of The Rolex World Championship Cascais. Atlantic side, winds were stronger offering high seas for racers, resulting in another win for Quantum. Leaving Lisbon on our vessel, the fleet were then discharged back in Palma ready to race for the penultimate event, Puerto Portals Sailing Week. Participants raced hard in the varying conditions, but it was Azzurra who took the title. Cruising on to Valencia for the grand finale; 5 months of racing came to a close with Luna Rossa winning the regatta and Quantum sailing to overall victory.
Justo Gosalbes, Managing Director of Peters & May shared his thoughts on the competition “This year the 52 SUPER SERIES has been even more exciting. As the official logistics partner to the event, it is brilliant to be part of such an exciting event in the yacht racing calendar. We saw some fantastic racing from all teams and it was great to congratulate all the competitors at our co-hosted crew dinner in Valencia!”
Travelling over 3,700 nautical miles during the 52 SUPER SERIES, the fleet now return to home grounds; where we are sure preparations are already beginning for next year’s competition!
