The countdown is almost over for keen racers around the world. As excitement builds ahead of the 52nd edition of Antigua Sailing Week, participants, sponsors and spectators make their way to Antigua ready for the grand opening of the regatta on 27th April.
With a world-renowned reputation as one of the most prestigious regattas, beautiful coastal courses and consistent trade winds; Antigua Sailing Week attracts over 100 yachts every year. Titled as the preferred logistics supplier to the event; Peters & May work closely with participants to transport racing yachts every year.
Passionate about racing himself, Global Operations Director for Racing Craig Stanbury looks forward to being on the ground amongst the action every year. Craig explains; “The beauty of this event is that it really has something for everyone. With the various classes, participants of all backgrounds and abilities take part. From Olympic racers to families; sailing in anything from high tech racing yachts to bareboats, there is a real community spirit. Nothing quite compares to the racing buzz there and we really enjoy helping make it happen by providing logistics support”.
As a headline sponsor for the event, 5 days of racing will kick off with the Peters & May Round Antigua Race on Saturday 27th April. An optional race with separate scoring from the rest of the regatta, the Round Antigua Race proves a popular event with practicing participants and spectators not entering Antigua Sailing Week.
Following a full days racing participant are invited at 6pm to the Peters & May Round Antigua Race Prize Giving and the Official ASW Opening Party. Hosting a ‘Happy Hour’, Peters & May encourage skippers to cash in coins within their skipper bag to enjoy a well-deserved Caribbean ‘Dark & Stormy’ on us! Prizes will be given for the elapsed time monohull winner, the overall corrected time winner, and to winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place across all classes.
At the opening party, Craig looks forward to seeing a few familiar faces. Mixing business with pleasure; Craig will be on hand to discuss any post-race logistics; Eastbound Transatlantic sailings and all things yacht transport!
