What could be one of closest finishes to a 52 Super Series regatta, took place at the Puerto Sherry Super Series Royal Cup in Cadiz, Spain. After a solid win from Platoon at Mahon in May; the competition couldn’t have come closer. It was Provezza who took the title for the regatta with 38 points. Followed by Azzurra and Bronenosec Gazprom, both with 39 points. Teams dug deep in an intense, showdown on the last downwind.
Justo Gosalbes, Managing Director for Peters & May Spain was on the ground at the event last week. He commented: ‘The racing at Puerto Sherry literally had everyone on the edge of their seats, you can just feel the passion and pure determination of teams as they fought for positions. This energy is part of the reason Peters & May love supporting the 52 Super Series. The intense, strategic racing shown by front runners really takes the competition to new heights, achieving great things in the racing arena’.
Now that Puerto Sherry has come to a close, racers look towards the tried and tested course of Cascais! Challenging and varied winds on the Atlantic coast, offer racers some of the best conditions from across the globe. We are sure we can look forward to some high speed, tactical racing like last year’s event!
