It’s almost here! The long awaited seventh edition of the 52 Super Series starts this month. Promised to be a thrilling season; 2018’s 52 Super Series will see 13 teams, from 9 different nations compete across 5 European regattas. For the 4th year running global leaders in bespoke logistics Peters & May are proud sponsors of the world’s leading mono-hull circuit.
This season, teams will race from around the globe with representatives from Great Britain, Italy, USA, France, Turkey, Russia, Brazil, South Africa & Germany amongst others. Participants look forward to new challenges in unfamiliar territories this spring as the series kicks off in Croatia for the first time ever. Following regattas in Sibenik and Zadar; the series will head back to proven and popular arenas of Cascais, Mallorca and Valencia. 3 bespoke sailings will take place in May, June and July between racing destinations. However, work doesn’t begin there for Peters & May as explained by Craig Stanbury, Global Operations Director for Racing; “We love working with the team at the 52 Super Series. It’s such a fantastic event, full of energy and excitement! As the official logistics partner; we have been working throughout the year shipping new yachts and equipment across the globe to the various teams as they prepare for 2018’s series. Once the series is underway we look forwards to some brilliant racing… I am sure this series will have us on the edge of our seats!”.
The boat builders have been busy over the winter – one of the things we love about the 52 Super Series is the continuous development and evolution of participating boating every year. That’s all thanks to the ‘box rule’ set for the competition; resulting in race teams experimenting with innovative designs providing they fit within measurement parameters defined by the class rule. Every year the calibre of teams and monohull yachts they are racing in is astonishing – leaving us wondering what will come next! The wait is almost over, and we are excited to see what the confirmed 9 redesigns hold. Expectations are that innovative changes to the hulls, systems and rigs will see record breaking speeds and even faster racing!
