Competition continues with a close finish in Cascais

Following Puerto Sherry, everyone was expecting some great racing conditions at Cascais. The sailing last week certainly didn’t disappoint! With gusts of wind reaching 30knots, boats were pushed to their limits resulting in some fast and intense racing.

It was Quantum that won first place during Cascais 52 Super Series Sailing Week with a total of 23 points. Italian team Azzurra lost out by just a couple of meters at the finish line on the last race of the regatta, finishing with 24 points. In third place followed Platoon with 35 points.

The top 3 teams winning this regatta sit on the overall leader board. Azzurra currently lead with 95 points overall. US team Quantum and German team Platoon follow join on the leader board with 103 points. Justo Gosalbes, Managing Director for Peters & May Spain commented on the current results; ‘It’s so close between the leading teams, I really couldn’t call who will win the series. It makes for great spectating though. Bring on the next regatta!’

With only 2 more regattas left before the 52 Super Series come to a close, the Rolex TP52 World Championship Puerto Portals is the next event teams are training for. Puerto Portals is world famous hosting numerous international events across the nautical world.
