Croatia complete, the 52 SUPER SERIES set sail in Cascais, Portugal last week. A well-known & established arena in the competition; the ROLEX TP52 World Championship in Cascais offered participants a chance to shine on one of the 52 SUPER SERIES regular tried and tested circuits. In contrast to the Croatian arenas, Cascais is renowned for its challenging and breezy conditions – an environment that Quantum excelled in, securing a first-place position.
Entering the ROLEX TP52 World Championship Cascais; both Quantum and Luna Rossa had claimed their titles in Sibenik and Zadar. Quantum were looking like front runners coming from a 4-point overall lead out of Zadar. However, Cascais offered Quantum the perfect opportunity to set themselves ahead of the competition now leading the TP52 Championships by 19 points after claiming their 6th world title!
Azzurra also gave an impressive performance during last weeks Championships finishing just 4 points shy of Quantum’s 23-point score. Justo Gosalbes, Managing Director of Peters & May Spain explained his excitement for the racing last week; ‘What a great few days racing! It certainly was interesting to watch. With lots of position changes, teams worked in new configurations to produce some fantastic results! The breeze also made a big difference, with stronger winds creating the perfect conditions for fast racing”.
On to the next leg of the 52 SUPER SERIES, Peters & May now get to work transporting the racing yachts participating in the following round at Puerto Portals in Mallorca.
