As the 52 SUPER SERIES has progressed we have seen some brilliant racing from all yachts in the series. Having moved from Croatia to Portugal and then onto the Balearic Islands, it’s been great to watch participants race hard in such varying, yet equally challenging conditions. In Puerto Portals racing began slowly with light and still wind conditions calling off the first day’s racing! After the competition got going, it was Quantum Racing who took the title with a total of 35 points.
Coming from Cascais; Quantum were looking strong and they certainly didn’t disappoint. Although not always winning races, Quantum once again proved their consistency always moving forwards, making up places as races went on. This year Puerto Portals Sailing Week produced a brilliant mix of results with variety of teams taking titles across the weeks races. Final results put Azzurra and Platoon in 2nd and 3rd place.
Craig Stanbury, Global Operations Director for Racing at Peters & May commented on the penultimate race of the season: “After a frustrating start to the week, it was great watching each race, and seeing how the various teams and tacticians handled such light winds. As the 52 SUPER SERIES come to an end Valencia is next on the agenda – hopefully it will be a grand finale!”.
On to the next leg of the 52 SUPER SERIES, Peters & May now get to work moving the fleet to the final event in Valencia, home town to Peters & May’s Spanish office! After a thrilling series we have all been hooked on, the wait is almost over to see who has raced to 52 SUPER SERIES victory! Its all to play for…
