After Peters & May successfully transported racing yachts from Zadar, the TP52 racers look to the ROLEX TP52 World Championship Cascais which is set to kick off next week.
An established arena for the 52 SUPER SERIES, the Clube Naval de Cascais will present different challenges to racers compared to the new Croatian courses of Sibenik and Zadar earlier in the series. Struggling with lighter sailing conditions in the Adriatic, racers look forward to the windier conditions Atlantic side. Cascais promises some fast and furious racing, with challenging ever-changing wind conditions and excellent racing arenas.
It was Italy’s Luna Rossa who took the title in Zadar, with 32 points. Closely following Phoenix came second with a total of 36 points. As the first debuting team to win races at their first 52 SUPER SERIES season, Phoenix look to be strong contenders to earn themselves a place on the leader board at the World Championship Cascais; currently positioned in 3rd place for the 52 SUPER SERIES competition overall. Quantum and Sled enter next week’s racing in 1st and 2nd place overall. With close overall results, at this stage in the competition, the title could be anyone's!
Peters & May look forward to seeing the results that the Atlantic arenas yield. Varying conditions will prove a challenge for tacticians and crews, but we are sure will produce some interesting racing.
