Import Operations Coordinator (UK)

We have an exciting new opportunity available at Peters & May’s HQ near Southampton (UK), as an Import Operations Coordinator. During a period of rapid business growth, we are looking for a self-motivated individual with a willingness to learn, to join our Forwarding Division.

Within this customer facing role, you will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day import freight activities of a variety of cargo, primarily by sea but also air. Liaising with agents and suppliers you will process customs entries, providing an excellent service to our valued customers.

Main responsibilities:

  • End-to-end handling of primarily ocean freight shipments
  • Organising and completing customs entries and documentation
  • Liaising with overseas agents and suppliers
  • Arranging carrier releases and inland transport of FCL/LCL cargoes
  • Raising sales invoices for customers and allocating costings for supplier invoices

Skills required:

  • General freight experience, with strong imports knowledge
  • Familiarity with customs entries and completing documentation
  • Knowledge of CNS, Destin8 & Chief
  • Experience using HMRC tariff
  • Strong organisation and communication skills
