Two members of the Peters & May team are heading to sunny Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ahead of the highly anticipated ARC 2017. Starting on Sunday 19th November, thefleet will head across the transatlantic to Rodney Bay in the beautiful Caribbean Island of St Lucia, with teams hoping to arrive after 14 to 21 days sailing.
Ahead of the event, the Peters & May team have been busy assisting the World Cruising Club (WCC) organisers with their pre-rally shipping requirements, beginning by receiving in and consolidating almost 50 individual packages into Peters & Mays warehouse before then being shipped out on a flight to Las Palmas by Peters & Mays airfreight team.
Prior to the rally starting, there is always an amazing atmosphere as the excitement for the start day approaches – and the Peters & May team will be on hand to support teams and individuals with any bespoke shipping solutions or questions that they may have.
During their 4 day trip our team, on the 15th of November, will be doing a short presentation on ‘What goes into shipping your yacht back from the Caribbean’ at Hotel Santa Catalina. In addition, Peters & May is pleased to be hosting a Happy Hour later that evening ahead of the famous rally, during which our team will be on hand to provide expert advice on bespoke shipping solutions (including “mast-up solutions) over a drink or two.
Peters & May have been partnered with WCC for over 11 years and is pleased to have helped hundreds of ARC participants plan the next stage of their yachts journey once the East to West Transatlantic crossing has ended. Being able to provide this popular logistic solution to ARC participants is something Peters & May is very proud of and this was demonstrated earlier this year when Peters & May operated 7 Sailings departing from the Caribbean, with the last sailing having a record number of 45 yachts on board. Being present at this annual event is a huge highlight in the Peters & May calendar.
Paul Everley, Peters & May UK Manager commented “Having a long-standing relationship with WCC and the ARC event is something Peters & May is very proud of. Over the years, we have been privileged to have provided advice and shipping solutions to many ARC participants. Having the team on the ground for the rally event in both Las Palmas and St Lucia, really allows us to fully understand the needs of the ARC participants and provide optimum solutions and exceed their expectations. We look forward to following the rally as it develops and wish good luck to all of those involved!”
Following the rally start day in Las Palmas on the 19th November, the Peters & May team will fly to St Lucia to meet the teams upon arrival in the sunny Caribbean. Look out for our Peters & May representatives in Las Palmas and St Lucia who will be happy to answer any questions.
