After competing in the Newport to Bermuda Race Skype’s co-founder, Niklas Zennstrom’s RAN II and Hap Fauth's Reichel/Pugh IRC 69, Bella Mente, which was built by New England Boatworks, were loaded onto a vessel on 1st July by Peters & May within a week of arriving in Bermuda.
Like so many of the racing fleet, these yachts have been designed to be lifted using their single point hook, which enables a swift and safe loading each and every time. The transit time was only ten days, giving both teams a good lead time to prepare for the forthcoming racing.
Constructed by Green Marine in the UK, the Judel Vrolijk, RAN II, has been sweeping the board since her launch in 2009 with wins including overall handicap winner of the 2009 Rolex Fastnet Race and Division A Racing 1 winner at Antigua Race Week 2010. RAN II has now commenced her Mediterranean Race season, with high hopes.
Hap Fauth's Bella Mente, is another high-hoping campaigner. Bella Mente’s first race was the June Newport-Bermuda Race where she took line honors. The crew has continued tuning, training and sail testing before Peters & May shipped her to the Mediterranean in advance of her big test at the Maxi Worlds in Sardinia.
